Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira

Configuration

Configuration

Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira provides a set of admin configuration pages that allow Jira Administrators to control how the app behaves across the entire Jira instance. These settings cover user access permissions, business calendars, date formatting, REST API tokens, and general app behavior.

All configuration pages can be reached in two ways: via Jira Admin Settings → Marketplace Apps → Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira, or through the cog (settings) icon on the main Timepiece reporting page. Jira Admin permissions are required to access and change any of these settings.

Access Settings

The Access Settings page controls who can use Timepiece and what they are allowed to do. Admins can define which user groups are permitted to access the main reporting page and gadgets, view the Issue View tab, export data as files, and manage Scheduled Reports. By default, all Jira users can access Timepiece, but access can be restricted to specific groups when needed.

See Access Settings for details.

Calendar Settings

The Calendar Settings page lets admins define custom business calendars for the organization. Each calendar can specify working days, working hours (including multiple shifts per day), holidays, and timezone. Once defined, these calendars become available for selection on all Timepiece reporting screens, allowing durations to be measured in business time rather than continuous 24/7 time. A default calendar can also be set, which will be pre-selected for users when they open a new report.

See Calendar Settings for details.

Format Settings

The Format Settings page allows admins to define custom date and datetime display formats for Jira date fields shown in Timepiece reports. If no custom format is configured, Timepiece falls back to the default Jira date formats defined in Jira's Look & Feel settings. The defined formats apply to both on-screen display and file exports.

See Format Settings for details.

Addon Settings

The Addon Settings page provides global toggles for app-level behavior. Admins can enable or disable detailed page logging, control whether the Timepiece tab appears on issue view screens, and enable or disable specific Scheduled Report delivery channels such as email, Slack, and Microsoft Teams. These settings apply to all users on the Jira instance.

See Addon Settings for details.

API Settings

The API Settings page is where users create and manage JWT tokens for authenticating with the Timepiece REST API. Each token is tied to the creating user's Jira permissions, meaning REST reports generated with that token will only include data the user is authorised to see in Jira. Tokens can be deactivated, given expiry dates, and deleted. Jira Admins can view and manage tokens for all users.
