Business Need
Let’s presume your Jira work items are organized in a multi-level Roadmaps hierarchy, where work items are linked through parent-child relationships.
You want your Timepiece report to display each work item’s parent for each level of the hierarchy as columns, so that these relationships can be clearly understood and tracked across the hierarchy.
Solution
The Hierarchy Level fields in Timepiece can be used for this purpose.
Timepiece reads the Roadmaps hierarchy levels configured in your Jira and brings them as fields to your report.
When hierarchy levels are selected as Fields, they are added to the report as separate columns, allowing you to see each work item’s parent in each level of the hierarchy.
This document explains how to see Roadmaps Hierarchy Levels as Fields in Timepiece reports. For getting average (sum, median, std dev, etc) reports grouped according to hierarchy levels, please see How to group aggregated Timepiece Reports by Roadmaps Hierarchy Levels?
Using Hierarchy Levels as Fields
You should:
-
Open the Timepiece reporting page.
-
Select the project in which the issues reside (or apply any other filter to define the scope of your report).
-
Switch to the Status Duration report.
-
Select the hierarchy levels you want to display as Fields.
-
Select the statuses you want to include in the report.
-
Select your business calendar if you have one.
The report will display the selected hierarchy levels as columns, allowing you to see each work item's Roadmaps parent in each hierarchy level.
